We have a small but dedicated group of individuals that share in Bookcliff’s success.
Justin, a Colorado native, found his passion for wine after graduating from the University of Colorado with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies and Biology. While working at the local hospital in the laboratory, Justin decided to turn his passion into a career. Taking a sommelier certification course through the International Sommelier Guild was a great way to gain the knowledge necessary to enter the wine industry. Justin was part of the very first class to complete the very intensive Sommelier Diploma Program in Colorado. After deciding not to explore the hectic world of fine dining, he began work at BookCliff Vineyards in the tasting room, occasionally helping out with bottling, crush, etc. Justin’s goal was to learn as much about making wine as possible, and what better way to do it than learning directly from winemaker John Garlich. Now, under the title of Asst. Winemaker, Justin takes care of many of the day to day operations in the winery, is the sales contact for the local stores that carry our wine and still works the tasting room.
Danica ‘fell in love’ with the Colorado wine region when on a tour of Colorado’s vineyards and wineries a number of years ago. Inspired by the passion and purpose of the artisans she encountered, as well as with the quality of the wine many of the winemakers produced, Danica followed her heart into the career of her dreams—to represent and sell fine Colorado wines. After dedicated study earned her twin certifications, both as a Cellar Manager and as an Executive Wine Sommelier from the International Wine & Spirits Guild in Denver, CO., she initially founded The Wandering WineKnow™ to share her expertise in wine appreciation. Today Danica still delights in teaching, but as BookCliff Vineyards’ Sales Manager for the Denver region, she feels she has come full circle as a voice for Colorado wine and the industry.
